Michelle loves working with amazing nonprofit organizations and helping people connect to them in a meaningful way. Michelle has volunteered and worked in the nonprofit sector for over 25 years, primarily in shelters for victims of domestic violence. She has her Masters of Nonprofit Management degree from Regis University.
In 2011, three former co-workers and friends started developing an idea to help connect people to great nonprofits in Colorado. They researched volunteerism and talked to people from different backgrounds to discover what people want from a volunteer experience and what keeps some people from getting involved. As a result, Philanthropy Field Trips was developed as a way to provide people with a fun, easy, and trustworthy way to learn more about nonprofits and to make a difference in their communities.
We believe hands-on volunteer opportunities are a great way to learn about the work of an organization. Volunteering allows group members to witness and engage in the work of an organization while also building social bonds with their fellow volunteers.
